What are the origins of Portapure?

Research into Portapure technology began the day after the earthquake that struck Haiti in January 2010. The gripping effects of the situation on the ground in Haiti, immediately after the earthquake, were striking. Witnessing the support of medical aid being donated to Haiti, we became curious about ways Haitians were utilizing water purification tablets. We wondered how Haitians without means could use water treatment tablets/chemicals on a day to day basis. Watching a demo of the use of water treatment tablets, it became evident that without a container, spoon, and cloth or T-shirt to filter off sediment, it is impossible to use water purification tablets. It was then that research began into developing an effective way to collect dirty water from a lake or stream from anywhere in the world, disperse water purification tablets or alternative treatment additives, and filter sediment and remove odors within a truly compact device.
